Who We Are
Founded in 1985, Attorneys Insurance Mutual Risk Retention Group, Inc. (AIMRRG) is a professional liability insurance company developed, owned, and managed by law firms. AIMRRG’s core values and member-controlled structure creates and fosters a cooperative problem solving relationship among member firms, whose primary objective is to provide members with access to stable capacity through a combination of a member-owned captive and access to global insurance and reinsurance markets.

Member Managed
Each Member Firm appoints a Director to sit on the Board of Directors. Member Firms are also requested to appoint an Alternate Director to participate in Board meetings where the director is unavailable. Although not required, Directors are typically the firm's General Counsel, Risk Management Counsel or Managing Partner. Each Director has a vote and collectively the AIMRRG Board controls strategic and day-to-day operation activities. Each of the Directors also participate on committees of the Board with additional services provided by expert advisors from various professional firms and companies.
Risk Retention Group
A Risk Retention Group (RRG) is a product of Federal legislation permitting a group of similarly situated buyers to issue liability insurance, which is a class or subset of "casualty insurance." For AIMRRG, lawyers use an RRG to underwrite Errors & Omissions (E&O) insurance. AIMRRG is domiciled in Hawaii and is authorized by the California Department of Insurance to underwrite law firm professional liability in California. AIMRRG is structured to minimize member capital obligations and to manage and leverage commercial carrier capacity in global insurance and reinsurance markets. Over the past almost four decades, AIMRRG (and its predecessor company, AIM Limited) has delivered superior products and services to its Member Firms.
